I’ll put in a word for the vintage shops as well. The Antique Market up near 183 (same building as the skating rink) has several booths with great jewelry cases full of inexpensive brooches.

Blue Velvet and Room Service are good hunting grounds too.

Amen to the plain skirt! And also, having a few longer skirt alternatives for moms with young kiddos (all that bending over) and people who work in cubicles (all those people coming into your office and looking at your lap, because it’s not always tucked behind a desk)!
